focus/shield/wand upgrades available everywhere
ok, anet wanted to make inscriptions a nf unique thing. ok. but what about shield handles, focus cores and wand wrappings? they are normal item upgrades like any axe hafts, bow grips, sword pommels etc.
why are these upgrades only exist in NF? i cant see any reason behind that.

Wand Wrappings, Focus Cores, and Shield Handles can only be used on Wands, Focus items, and Shields that drop in Elona. Why have an item with a mod drop in Tyria when the mod can't be used on any weapon that drops there? Until they allow the items in Tyria and Cantha to use those mods, there is no need to have the mods drop there.

Well, if they dropped there, that would be inside items that have them.
But Inscriptions are NOT unique of nightfall.
They are core now. They are part of the PvP system. Inscribable items drop it Facions too (Urgoz and The Deep) so...
They have to make both new mods and inscription worldwide.
When? Who knows... maybe after when release...

well magmared, upgrades dont fall by themselves so they would obviously be in the items that would be able to contain them.

Inscriptions will become Game-wide. Its only a matter of time. (when it happens, tons of people will be pissed)
Have patience and until then, farm nightfall for mods.

Duh
The reason the mods don't drop anywhere but Elona is the items they can be used on only drop in Elona. What you want is for items to drop in Tyria/Cantha that are currently only available in Elona. There was a reason those items were restricted to Elona. I can't say for sure, as I don't work for Anet, or have seen info from someone who does, but I'd guess it has to do with sales. Why do people by Nightfall? To get things only available in that game. This includes 2 new classes, new skills, new armor, Heroes, missions/quests, and new types of weapons.
Only 1 type of armor is core (FoW), no heroes are core, only a few skills are core, only FoW/UW quests are core, and only a few weapon skins are core.
If they make shields, wands, and focus items with salvagable mods on them drop in Tyria/Cantha, they may as well make heroes for the other 2 games, have all armor crafters make any armor type, and all skills available in all continents.
I like the idea of having things separate. It not only makes good business sense for Anet, it makes people have more things to do in the game to get what they want.

I think part of the reason they will be mad is the market. All of a sudden any crystal sword can have the best mods. Rare-skinned, low req weapons, one of the biggest markets in the GW economy will disappear. Also the very early unconditional damage mod items would likely have to be left out or destroyed, because I doubt they'll want flat 15% increased inscriptions floating around.
I can understand them taking a while to do this.
I had an idea in which inscriptions could be added to customized Prophecies and Factions weapons since that would have less of an impact on the economy then just converting everything en-masse.
